41st and the Navy

Not all members of the 41st are interested in portraying members of the jolly tars, but they are still able to participate n our Royal Navy events as during the War of 1812 the 41st served as marines on several ships, and were awarded prize money from the vessels captured.

In 2004 we decided that we would like to portray another aspect of the period, and with the 200th anniversary of Trafalgar around the corner, the Royal Navy was our first choice.

We put together some uniforms and attended the Napoleonic Fair in St Albans that year. Here we were invited to participate in the official celebrations at Portsmouth.
